The death of Freda Mae Little of Sussex occurred at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on May 14, 2010 at the age of 85. Born in Lower Millstream, NB, she was a daughter of the late James and Agnes (Holmes) Long and was the wife of Gordon E. Little who passed away in 1999. Freda is survived by her daughters; Dianne (Leonard) Chown of Kanata, ON, Donna (Bill) OConnor of Surrey, BC and Lori Little of Saint John, grandchildren; Candace (Shaun) Reynolds, Faith Little, Shawn (Sherri) OConnor, Troy Chown, Trent Chown, Albert Gordon Little, great grandsons; Cooper and Brady Reynolds, sister; Jean Moore and brother Ron (Audrey) Long all of Saint John. Freda was predeceased by her son Gordon J. Little, sisters Flora Watson and Hazel Drouin and brothers Burton and Elbert Long. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Tuesday from 1-3 and 6-8PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 19, 2010 at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Obituary of Alton Edward Chown

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Alton Edward Chown announces his passing

Sunday, July 24, 2022. Born at his family home in Gibbon Mountain, NB April. 19, 1943, he

was the son of the late Edward and Florence (Parlee) Chown.

Alton is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bertha (Kelly) Chown of Gibbon Mountain; his

daughter Cathy (Donald) Morris of Mount Middleton; his son David (Martha) Chown of

Gibbon Mountain; his sister Doris (Charles) Thorne of Sus; his grandchildren: Kristen

Chown, Heather (Alex) Kearley, Courtney (Jesse) Baird, Christine (Brett) Morris, Bailey

(Chelsey) Chown and Colby Chown; his great grand children: Hunter Edwards, Aurora and

Lincoln Baird, Emily and Allison Kearley; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Alton always lived life to the fullest! He left school by Christmas in grade eleven to drive

truck for his father, which he loved. Upon his dads passing in 1979, Alton gave up trucking

full time to manage the family farm. He enjoyed raising and showing Black Angus cattle,

receiving many awards as it was a family operation.

Alton could most always be seen with a smile on his face or a joke to tell. Many a funny

story is told of projects on the farm. Alton loved his family and spending time with his

grandchildren and great grandchildren. And, he was pleased as punched to meet his newest

great granddaughter, Allison, just last week.

In Addition to his parents, Alton was predeceased by his sister Jean (Long) Kelly and his

brothers-in-law, Arlington Kelly and Ronald Kierstead.

McKNIGHT, MURRAY FREDERICK - The death of Murray F. McKnight of Saint John, NB occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, June 21, 2007. Murray was born in Saint John, the son of the late Frederick L. and Della L. (Gamblin) McKnight. He had been employed for thirty-four years at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Survived by his wife, Thelma (Jeans) McKnight; one son, Ray A. of Alberta; two sisters, Ruth (John) Smith of Dartmouth, NS and Janet (Leigh) McKnight of Midland, NB; three grandsons: Adam, Austin and Anthony; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son, Weldon F. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
