Notes for WALTER MCALLISTER GAMBLIN:
Living in Springfield, NB in 1913, when his mother, Elizabeth Rowley, died. Living in St. Martins in 1926, when his brother, William, died. Living in Western Canada in 1934, when his sister, Maltilda, died. Walter left his second wife, and seven small children and moved to Fairvale, NB and started another family, and changed his name. He went by Walter Gamblin MacAllister. The family didn't know where he went and never heard from him again until after he moved to Alberta. They heard from him in 1927. He was living in Pitcher Creek, Alberta. When his brothers did hear from him, he did not tell them he had changed his name. When they tried, they could not find him. They heard about his name change in 1982, when his grandson's wife, Carol MacAllister, was researching her husband's family tree. She found the Gamblin name in a New Brunswick phone book, and wrote to Mrs. James R. Gamblin, to find out if they knew of a Walter McAllister Gamblin. She had somehow found out that he had probably changed his name. Walter Gamblin MacAllister got married again to Agnes Louisa Johnson Millar, and raised another family. In 1927, they were living on a farm in Pitcher Creek, Alberta. You will find this family in the tree as MacAllisters.

GAMBLIN, MR. HAROLD A. - The death of Mr. Harold A. Gamblin of Montreal Ave., husband of Mrs. Hazel M. (Williams) Gamblin occurred on Saturday May 11, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Midland, NB a son of the late Eldon and Sivilla (Black) Gamblin. Mr. Gamblin was a Veteran of WWII serving overseas, for his service he received the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Following the war Mr. Gamblin was employed with the DVA Hospital for many years as an RNA/Orderly and was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was very fond of country life and loved anything to do with tractors. Surviving besides his wife Hazel is his granddaughter Mrs. Tara Petts (Michael) great grandchildren Tylor, Brandon and Dustin, adopted granddaughter Tammy Robichaud (John) and adopted great grandson Noah. Also survived by friends Earl Hubbly, Roy and Anita Totton and many other friends of Saint John and Sussex. Also by his loved companion and friend, his dog Dusty.

Johnston A. Gamblin, 87, beloved husband of Caroline (Bilodeau) Gamblin, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at UMass Memorial Healthcare Center - University Campus. Born in Leominster, John was the son of the late Norman and Alice (Cheney) Gamblin.

John was a graduate of the Lenox Preparatory School and a member of the ROTC. He went on to further his education and attended UMass College in both Amherst and Lowell. John proudly served in the National Guard for several years. He enjoyed a long career with ITT Suprenant, retiring as a Quality Control Manager after 33 years of dedicated service.

Most days, John could be found sitting at the end of the kitchen table with a book in his hand. He was an avid reader and spent countless hours at the Sterling Conant Library where he had many friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, watching and feeding the birds, fishing, and hunting with his close friends. Known to many as "The Tomato Man", John took great pride in his garden and loved sharing his harvest with friends and neighbors.

He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 63 years, Caroline; his daughter, Holly Gamblin and her partner, Shawn Casey of Sterling; his son, Norman Gamblin and his wife, Kim of Princeton; his two granddaughters, Courtney Hayes and her husband, Ryan and Jillian Garabedian and her husband, David; and his three great-grandchildren, Jameson Hayes and A.J. and Odin Garabedian. He will also be missed greatly by his granddog, Brutus and his feline friend, Hansel. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Gamblin.
